Level 230-275: Thorium ore is found in Winterspring. It’s best to mine here until you can move into Hellfire Peninsula.
Level 275-325: Fel Iron ore is located all around Hellfire Peninsula.
Level 325-350: Adamantite veins and Rich Adamantite veins are found in Nagrand, Terokkar Forest and Zangarmarsh.
Level 350-400: Rich Adamantite Vein, Nethercite and Cobalt are found in Howling Fjord, Nagrand and the Borean Tundra.
Level 400-425: Saronite and Rich Saronite are in Icecrown and Sholazar Basin.
Level 425-525: Rich Saronite is found in Northrend and Obsidium is in Mount Hyjal.

MapWoW. Yeah, MapWoW. Unbelievable that many gamers are not aware of this great tool. It’s free and great Google Earth-like website to find node locations. Something like Google maps. As for today, there are over 28,000 data points covering 143 resources with the exact map location in their storage. With few mouse clicks, you can find almost anything you want to mine in Cataclysm. This may work for the older expansions packs. Example, if you click on “Show Ore” at the right hand side, you will see in the mapshowing the exact places you can mine ore. Pretty powerful right! This can give you a better picture before and while playing World of Warcraft Cataclysm.

Next, make sure you learn the Find Materials skill as early as possible. This will allow you to highlights nearby resources on the mini map. We also encourage you to learn smelting skills which can be used to convert ore and elemental ingredients into bars.

Weapons. You serious? I thought weapons are meant to fight? No! Weapons can be served as a mining pick too. Below are some items which you could consider:-
